The Extent to Which Arabic Language Course Content Meets the Language Skills Requirements of Students in Applied Sciences Departments at Colleges of Education from the Students’ Perspectives

Abstract

Language skills are a fundamental pillar in teaching and education, playing a vital role in shaping the teacher’s personality and supporting his educational discourse during service. This study aims to highlight the importance of teaching language skills to students in faculties of education in general, and to those in applied departments in particular, due to its significance in preparing them adequately for their professional roles post-graduation. The research stems from a central question: To what extent does the content of the Arabic language course enhance the language skills of students in applied departments within faculties of education? To address this question, the researcher adopted the descriptive methodology by reviewing and analyzing relevant literature and references. Additionally, a questionnaire was developed to collect data and explore the opinions of the study sample, consisting of 39 students who had completed the Arabic language course at the Faculty of Education, University of Wadi Alshatti. The study concluded with several findings, the most significant of which is that the majority of the study sample believes that the Arabic language course content requires development and modernization, with an emphasis on teaching language skills, utilizing modern technology, and prioritizing practical application over theoretical instruction to benefit education students and enhance their teaching effectiveness, ultimately leading to better educational outcomes during their  service
