Educational assessment is a structured, planned, and purposeful procedure that allows for the evaluation of the extent to which desired goals in the educational process have been achieved. This is accomplished through the use of specific tools, such as achievement tests, to make accurate judgments and decisions based on the results. Since achievement tests are the most commonly used and circulated tools in the Algerian educational system, any shortcomings in their preparation will inevitably lead to flaws in the educational assessment process, which in turn affects the dynamics of the teaching and learning process. Therefore, it is essential for these tools to possess specific characteristics and specifications that make them suitable for conducting educational assessments. This paper aims to reveal the characteristics of the achievement tests used in the assessment process and to determine whether they truly fulfill the purposes for which they were designed
