Assessment of the adequacy of primary education institutions in the city of Brack

Abstract

Governments worldwide strive to ensure adequate provision of public services, particularly in education. Primary education, being the most crucial stage, reflects the effectiveness of development programs inadvancing societies and eradicating illiteracy. Brak city in Libya, which has had primary and preparatory schools since the Italian era, is a case in point. Despite having seven primary schools distributed across the city, this study assesses the adequacy of these services in terms of planning, population, and geographic distribution. Findings reveal that the existing schools constitute only 7.5% of the total recommended by consultants before the year 2000. Moreover, these schools do not cover the entire city's population, especially in Alqasr area. The geographic distribution is also imbalanced and does not facilitate easy access given the city's road network.
