Abstract

The aim of the current research is to know the role of kindergarten institutions in promoting the culture of sustainability from the point of view of educators using the descriptive approach. The research community consisted of all educators in kindergarten institutions under the supervision of education in the Maslata region during the educational year (2023-2024 AD). The research tool was applied to a sample selected using the available sample method, amounting to (55) individuals. The current research tool enjoyed the following types of validity: apparent validity, internal consistency validity) construct validity, factor validity, and the stability of this research tool was extracted using Cronbach's alpha, and the half-division after correcting the length with the Spearman-Brown equation. The stability coefficient for the scale as a whole (aspects or dimensions of the culture of sustainability: social - environmental - economic) reached "0.88" and the stability coefficient for the obstacles scale reached "0.91.  The results showed that kindergarten institutions play an effective role in promoting the culture of sustainability through its dimensions (social, environmental and economic) in the child, from the point of view of the educators. The results also showed the presence of obstacles of moderate degrees represented by the lack of information, weak positive attitudes towards the culture of sustainability, the complexity of sustainable development concepts, and the lack of interest of educational administrations in kindergartens. Obstacles came at a high degree, which is what we actually see through reality; which is represented by the lack or misuse of material resources, the level of community culture, weak activation of the field aspect, the lack of cooperation between the family and the kindergarten, and the lack of specialized programs provided to train teachers to apply the concepts of sustainability to become a behavior that reflects the culture of sustainability. Through the above, the research concluded with recommendations represented in working to create an educational environment that helps achieve the goals of sustainability by preparing and training educators, and providing appropriate educational tools and means.
